Bondi Breastfeeding

When Cara, my saviour, first came to my place I was very surprised with how comfortable I felt.

After 5 days of 'breastfeeding boot camp' I was discharged from hospital with my bundle of joy and what I thought was my new best friend, a nipple shield. Being a first time mom I thought it was natural for a baby to cry all day and all night, not sleep anywhere but in my arms and constantly need to be fed. We thought it was wind or colic then our Dr gave us Zantac in case it was reflux and still she just cried. We finally decided to try some formula and BINGO she chugged it down like I had never fed her before. Then it was my turn to start crying. I felt like a failure who had deprived my baby for 3 weeks because I never thought that perhaps it was me who didn't have milk. My baby would only latch on with the nipple shield and wasn't allowing any skin on skin contact and as a result I had a low supply. After a few months of my baby not gaining enough weight, I was advised at that point by various professionals to try switching to formula. When Cara, my saviour, first came to my place I was very surprised with how comfortable I felt. I wasn't being judged or blamed I was just talking with another mum who knew how to help me. Cara sat and created a plan for me and then stayed to watch me try it out with my baby. She called me that night to see how I was going and then again a few days later. I can't begin to explain how amazing the support felt and the fact that I was comfortable enough to call Cara with any questions I had. I took all the ideas and techniques Cara had given me and I am very proud to say that 12 months later I am still feeding my princess and thanks to Cara it is stress free experience I look forward to each day.
